May 5, 2007 - By Alan Stewart
It's 5:30 in the morning. The sea air is cool and the
coffees on. The 9 guests on board are anxious to get the
rods in the water - but you know better. "We're almost
there."
At 5:45 you arrive at your destination just off the north end
of Thormanby Island. Your timing couldn't be better.
15 minutes from now will be slack tide and the Spring will be
biting.
You rig up the lines and the guests draw straws to decide who
will go first. The depth sounder and plotting GPS tell
you all you need to know - this is it!
You send the gear down to the perfect depth with the automatic
downriggers and everyone aboard is watching to see how well
you know your trade. After 6 minutes of trolling you
have 3 Spring Salmon on board and before the winds come out of
the South East to stir the seas and end another day of
fishing, there are 16 beautiful fish aboard and everyone is
thrilled.
What a day. "Worth every penny and then some!" say the guests.
You've made some new friends and given them all a day to
remember. What a life.
